As a beginning activity, I had my kids all work together to look up Helen Keller on the Internet. Then, we discussed important aspects of her life, including the introduction of Anne Sullivan into her life, and her pivotal moment when she first had her hand placed under the water pump and Anne Sullivan repeatedly spelled "W-A-T-E-R" into her hand.
